How GPA is calculated

Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is a weighted average that reflects your overall academic performance. It is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted.

The Formula

GPA = Σ(Points × Credits) / Σ(Credits)

Each letter grade has a numerical value (e.g., A=4.0). We multiply that value by the credit hours of the course, sum those up, and divide by the total credits.

Why Credits Matter

A 4-credit course has double the impact on your GPA compared to a 2-credit course. This is why doing well in high-credit classes is crucial for maintaining a strong average.
